Responsibilities: To act as Director, in control and guidance of all areas of operations of Riverbend Christian School
Ministry Focus: To offer a loving Christian environment in which each child can develop fully in all areas of his/her life: emotional, physical, social, cognitive & spiritual. We believe in the importance of providing support and encouragement to RBCS parents & families.
Education & Ministry Experience: BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Child Psychology from Texas A&M University. I also have my certificate in Early Childhood Education. I very early on found my calling for teaching younger children, so I never worked in the public school system.
How Long at Riverbend: Director since May 2013
My Favorite Things: My family is the most important part of my life. My husband, Mike, and I are celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary this year. I have grown children, Rachel, Emily and Kyle.
Jill Wilson, Christian School Assistant Director
Responsibilities: To assist the Director, in all areas of operations of Riverbend Christian School
Ministry Focus: To provide an environment in which children are given opportunities to grow and learn in a safe, loving and Christian atmosphere. I believe in partnering with parents by providing support and resources for children and families.
Education & Ministry Experience: BS in Family & Child Development from Texas State University. I have over 10 years experience in Child Care Licensing with the Texas Department of Protective & Regulatory Services, I've provided mentoring and consultation as a Director Mentor and I have experience as a classroom teacher. I'm a Certified Texas Child Care Health Consultant, a Program Administration Scale Assessor and a Master Trainer on the Texas Trainer Registry since 2007.
How Long at Riverbend: Assistant Director since 2011
My Favorite Things: My husband and I have two children, Cade and Makenna, that keep us very involved in their school functions and extracurricular activities. We enjoy going to the beach, boating and spending time with our family and friends.
Alicia Donoghue, Riverbend Christian School Manager
Responsibilities: Alicia handles admissions into the preschool including tours, waiting lists and registration, for both the school year program and six-week summer camp. As Administrative Assistant, she supports the Directors of the school during daily operations and special events. She also handles tuition billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll for the school.
Ministry Focus: To provide a loving, Christian environment in which each child can develop emotionally, physically, socially, cognitively and spiritually. The preschool endeavors to provide support and encouragement for parents and families.
Education & Ministry Experience: Alicia studied Accounting at the University of Texas at Austin and since a young age has had a desire to work with children.
How Long at Riverbend: Manager since 1997
My Favorite Things: Spending time with my three children, Shelby, Shane and Mary, and my husband, Kevin. My new passions are babywearing and making fused, argentium silver jewelry.
Todd Mears, Riverbend
Christian School Liaison
Responsibilities: Todd serves as the liaison between the Riverbend Christian School and Riverbend Church. He is also President of the board for the Riverbend Christian School.
Ministry Focus: Todd has a huge heart for God, children and families alike and he considers it a privilege to be able to speak into the lives of children.
Education & Ministry Experience: Todd has been a children’s pastor or director of children’s ministry for 13 years.
How Long at Riverbend: 7 years (since 2010)
My Favorite Things: He loves sports, fishing, hunting and just spending time with family and friends.
The staff of Riverbend Christian School have experience and training working with young children. Staff receive training in infant/child CPR and first aid. Teachers and aides complete at least 30 hours of continuing education during the year covering various early childhood education and child development topics. All classrooms have 2 adults - in our younger classes there are co-teachers and in our older classes there is a lead teacher and an aide. The teachers in our Pre-K and Kinder Bridge classes are degreed in early childhood education, elementary education, child development or equivalent.
