Fundraising is underway at RBCS. Each year our parents come together to bring in the needed funds to make improvements to our school and classrooms. There are many ways that you can support RBCS:
Make a No Hassle Donation. What is that, you say? It’s making a monetary donation to the school so that 100% of your donation will go toward the improvements and materials needed. There’s no volunteering, no items to sell, just giving. A donation of $100 per child enrolled is suggested, as if everyone participates, we will get very close to our fundraising goal of $25,000 for the year. As of November 7, No Hassle donations received total $5,500.
Become a Christmas Sponsor. If you have a business, this is a great way to show your support and get your business name out there to other RBCS families. Businesses will be featured in pre- and post-event materials, in the event e-mail, on signage at the event as well as featured on our Facebook page. Donations received from Christmas Sponsors are used to cover the expenses from the event on December 6. Any excess will be lumped with No Hassle donations to be used directly for purchasing new materials for the children.
Donate an item to the Christmas auction and raffle. Maybe you have a business, maybe you have a good business contact who would be willing to make an item donation. We are seeking items of all values, items that RBCS parents like you would be interested in bidding on.
Join the Christmas volunteer committee. If you can, come to the meetings. If you can’t come to the meetings, you can help by soliciting donations from area businesses using the donation letter and contract. We can even give you a list of businesses to start with, if you’re unsure who to contact.
Mark your calendar and plan to attend the Christmas Pageant & Celebration fundraiser on the afternoon/evening of Thursday, December 6. We will once again hold the auction on-line so that everyone can bid, regardless of attendance. However, we will have all the items on display at the event for your viewing.
Riverbend Christian School, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization and all donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.
In recent years, thanks to our generous parents, we have been able to make many major improvements to our buildings including adding much needed restrooms to our 3 year old wing in the downstairs preschool building, remodeling the upstairs diaper changing and restroom areas to include pee-wee potties for those potty learning 2 year olds, remodeling the upstairs hallway bathroom that many parents use, adding handwashing sinks outside next to Playland and painting the upstairs building to go with the updated flooring and remodeled receptionist desk, as well as all the new flooring and carpet around the school. That’s a lot of improvements! This year our focus is on smaller projects, but the expenses add up quickly when there’s 16 classrooms to buy for! As funds are received, we will be replacing worn furniture including bookshelves and homeliving, adding more bulletin boards to the downstairs classrooms, replacing our laminator, and buying other updated educational materials for all age groups.
Previously RBCS was using the church’s Robly account for e-mailing the school newsletter and various reminders during the school year. In October, we sent the first newsletter using the Mail Chimp platform. We hope that you will stay subscribed so that you continue to stay informed about school happenings.
No Fax Available
It just came to our attention that we no longer have access to Riverbend's fax machine. We realize that the fax number was listed on the Health Form, and apologize for any inconvenience this causes. Records can be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or turned in to the school office.
The next school closing will be during the Thanksgiving holidays, November 19-23. We will be closed for the entire week so allow families to travel and spend time with their loved ones.
Fall Photo orders were due October 18. It may still be possible to go to www.mrdabbs.com and enter the code listed on your child’s proof and order portrait sheets, if desired. However, an additional fee may apply. We do not have a make-up picture day because we will hold picture days again in the spring. Spring picture days also include an option to purchase a group shot of the class.
Fall portrait orders are expected back at the school on November 12.
During the 2017-2018 year, RBCS finally claimed its space on social media. We have created a closed group on Facebook that will allow us to share photos and to keep parents informed about school events. This is also a good platform for our parents to interact.
We would also love for you to give us a like on our business page. Go to the RBCS Business Page >
Do you shop on Amazon? Do you know about Amazon Smile? It's a great program where a portion of your eligible purchases get donated to a charity of your choice. That's right. You can be support Riverbend Christian School just by shopping and buying on Amazon, no extra money out of your pocket. Click here to choose to support RBCS.

library helpers Needed
Sandra Polkowski, School Librarian, is always in need of help in the library. Each week the classrooms receive new books, and those items need to be checked out and once they return, be checked back in and re-shelved. Help is also needed to help with Scholastic Book Orders. If you can help or want to find out more, please e-mail her at email@example.com.
One of the ways you can stay informed about school happenings and closings, is to sign up for Remind. We will periodically be sending out text messages to let parents know when events are happening at school. You can sign up two ways. On your smartphone, open your web browser and go to the following link: rmd.at/rbcschool and follow the instructions to sign up and download the app. Or you can choose to get text notifications by texting the message @rbcschool to the number 81010.
After School Enrichment - School Year Programs
Our extended day classes are available for ages 3 to 5 years and potty trained. Classes run until 2:30 p.m. For the 2018-2019 school year, we offer Sportball, Spanish, Gymnastics and Soccer Shots on campus for after school enrichment. Registration forms are available at the school office. Currently the Monday Spanish and many of the Sportball classes are full. There is still lots of space for children to join Tuesday Spanish, Wednesday Gymnastics and Thursday Soccer Shots. Fall extended day will run through December 7.
As a reminder, we ask you to label everything that your child brings to school. It helps your child keep track of their stuff (and for teachers to help keep track). We’ve made it easy to help support Riverbend while keeping your kid’s stuff out of the Lost & Found! We’re suggesting Mabel’s Labels as the labels you use. Mabel’s labels are personalized, peel & stick, super-durable labels that safely go in the laundry, dishwasher and microwave. They’re perfect for all your kids’ stuff – shoes, clothes, water bottles, lunch containers, lunch boxes, backpacks and more! You can do a child’s name or even add a a fun icon.

We are in need of restocking our clothes closet. Often a child will need an extra change of clothes and sometimes the school will have to lend out clothes. As you are cleaning out your closets at home, please consider setting some aside to donate to our clothes closet. The biggest need is for pants in sizes 3T and 4T. Thanks for your help!
Due to our licensing with the TX Dept. of Family and Protective Services, only children attending classes are permitted to be on our playgrounds during school hours, 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. After school hours we welcome our parents to use the playground facilities but ask that you abide by some rules. Please supervise your children on campus at all times; do not let them enter the building themselves or leave them on the playground unattended. If you take food or drinks to any of the playgrounds, please properly dispose of your trash. Please note that the turfed Playland playground is recommended by the manufacturer for use by children 3 and older. The 2nd turfed playground that is fenced off separately is recommended for children 5 years and older. Thank you for your consideration and respect of these wonderful facilities we have available for our families.
Parking at Riverbend
You may have noticed that the Handicapped parking spots located in the main parking area in front of Fellowship Hall have now been marked for 15 minute parking for our preschool parents for drop off and pick up. Please utilize these and other marked parking spots when dropping off and picking up your child. Please do not park in the staff parking lot or in any of the marked fire zones.
Parents often ask us when they are cleaning out old toys if we take donations. Yes, we do! We are happy to take any gently used items for use in our classrooms. We also have a sister school, Little Folks. Any items that we either don't have a use for or have too much of, we forward to Little Folks. Items can be dropped at the school office; donation receipts available.
